I am not sure if this works for NWP, but normal picture caching can be turned off with the config command:
picture cache_off

Also, if you specify ":NOCACHE" at the end of the file name, BR will skip caching for just this one picture. This is useful if you are intentionally changing the picture at runtime. The photo-sorter uses this whenever the user presses F7 or F8 to rotate the picture. The picture is rotated using an external program and without the ":NOCACHE" the user never sees the rotated picture. But we still need caching on for all the other pictures for performance reasons.
